Webflow is getting better and better! Here is a summary of the new features that were presented at Webflow Conf 2022 from 09.11-10.11.2022 in San Francisco.

The whole conference is once again on an extremely high level A la Apple took place and was very entertaining. If you have some time, I would recommend the complete keynote watch here. During the whole event, it was nice to see the growth Webflow is experiencing and that more than 7 million websites have already been created with the tool (and counting). More and more (large) companies are also switching to Webflow and are recognizing the potential of this platform.

What was presented at the Webflow Conference?

  • Components
  • Dev Link
  • Scaling the CMS
  • Higher product limits for e-commerce plans
  • multilingualism
  • Memberships - (memberships)
  • Evolution of Logic
  • variable fonts
  • Agency or freelancer guest roles
  • Page-specific accesses
  • Page branching for enterprise customers
  • Webflow Marketplace
  • New creator profiles

That's a whole lot and makes the Designer & No Code developer heart happy. Now let's go through together what the changes mean for us.

Symbols become components

Source: Webflow

Symbols are elements that you create once and can be used over and over again. A good example of an icon is the navigation that is on every page of the website. If you make a change to the icon here, the text will change everywhere on the page. The renaming of icons to components is intended to reflect the new performance and creates the conditions for future, further improvements in reusability, workflow optimization and gives you more control.

Components are already easier to use and more intuitive to use. In addition, components offer more flexibility in adapting and reusing design elements in order to be able to better adapt them to various design requirements.

Dev Link - The power of components for developers

With the new, powerful product, developers have the option to use Webflow components in React projects bring in. With Dev Link, millions of developers who build custom apps can use the full power of Webflow's visual design tools.

Scaling the CMS beyond 10,000 entries

Source: Webflow

Webflow has fundamentally redesigned the CMS storage architecture to make Webflow even more scalable for enterprise customers.

Higher product limits for e-commerce plans

The improved CMS architecture also benefits e-commerce tariffs. From now on, e-commerce customers can benefit from a higher number of e-commerce items. In plain language, this means:

  • E-Commerce Plus increases from 1,000 to 5,000 items
  • E-Commerce Advanced increases from 3,000 to 15,000 items

Native multilingualism in 2023

Something that has been requested again and again by customers and I have used the tool so far Weglot had to implement, will be introduced by Webflow itself in 2023. Unfortunately, it was not announced when exactly the feature would be rolled out. After all, Webflow has announced that this feature is a top priority in 2023.

Memberships are now available to everyone in the beta version

From now on, the memberships feature is in public beta and is available to all Webflow customers directly in the designer. I myself was able to test the Memberships functionality at an early stage and am amazed at how easy and intuitive it is to create closed member areas including login accounts. Free and paid member areas can be created in the process. I can hardly wait to use memberships for my customer projects and no longer depend on third-party providers.

Evolution of Logic

In September, the beta version of Logic was rolled out, a very exciting feature to make automation in Webflow natively possible. This feature will be very powerful and add great value to Webflow customers. With automation, complex customer problems can be solved. Webflow continues to work behind the scenes to make Logic more reliable until the function is stable, as we have come to expect from Webflow.

Variable fonts

Variable fonts give designers a new level of control over fonts. And because all of these properties are contained in a single font file, variable fonts have smaller file sizes than their traditional counterparts, which require multiple font files to be loaded for a project. This has a positive effect on page load speed and makes it possible to create nice animations and hover effects.

Agency or freelancer guest role later this month

Source: Webflow

Another very useful new feature that is available free of charge to every Webflow user. Guest accounts can now be created without having to share your own login data.

Full control over page views

Source: Webflow

Early next year, Webflow will release page-specific access that allows large teams (customers with agency, freelancer, or enterprise workspace plans) to control which websites invited guests can access.

With page-specific access, enterprise customers and enterprise partners can also determine which websites internal team members can access, making the work of large teams in Webflow even more secure and controlled.

Parallel design with page branching

Source: Webflow

Page branching - A new feature that allows multiple designers to work on a website at the same time. Unfortunately, this feature is only available to Enterprise customers from now on. I believe that this type of collaboration is still in its infancy and the goal will be, as is already possible in Figma, to work on one page at the same time and be able to see live what each team member is currently creating.

Webflow Marketplace

Source: Webflow

With the Webflow Marketplace, a home was created for all Webflow products and services. In this place, you'll find templates, Made in Webflow projects, Webflow experts, and two new sections with libraries and apps, both of which have started in beta.

Develop faster with libraries

Webflow libraries provide flexible collections of website layouts that have been reviewed by Webflow and built by top Webflow experts. This allows you to quickly create amazing websites right in the designer using the community's design expertise. In the beta phase, over 1000 layouts are available in more than 10 different libraries.

Extend and improve Webflow's core functionalities with apps

Now you might think it's going to be slow like Wordpress. The difference here is that no updates need to be made, Webflow has clear guidelines for creating an app and all apps are checked by Webflow beforehand. As a result, apps unlock powerful new features for your Webflow website, such as dynamic filters, powerful new e-commerce workflows, improved workflows for team collaboration, and more. The beta phase features over 10 apps built by some of the best developers in the community and fully reviewed by Webflow.

New ways to find the right Webflow expert

With the redesigned Webflow Expert Directory, it's easier than ever to find and hire the right Webflow agency or freelancer for your next project.

New creator profiles

The creator profiles were improved and redesigned, and a unique creator URL was created to improve personal and business branding opportunities in the Webflow community.
